The Launch is the first major public introduction to Stoodis Fest.
September 19 gives audiences their first taste of what Stoodis Fest can become: live music, Indigenous artists, culture, food, and community brought together in one festival experience.
And it’s deliberately the beginning of something bigger.
Stoodis Fest will return in June 2027 with an expanded festival experience.
The original planning documents envisioned the September event as the indoor launch leading to a larger outdoor festival in 2027.
Stoodis Fest has ambitions beyond staging a successful music festival. Its vision includes using arts and culture to foster greater respect, understanding and meaningful relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people; strengthening Calgary’s Indigenous cultural footprint; and creating something in which future generations can see themselves reflected and inspired.
The Society also sees the festival as a way to create professional opportunities, artist mentorship, partnerships and collaborative spaces that are driven by and for Indigenous people.
